UP ON THE WOOFTOP (2015)

November 16, 2015 by Jacob Nelson in 2015, 6, COMEDY, U, FAMILY

11/16/2015 – Up on the Wooftop (2015) – 6-/10

IMDb won't let me rate this film, but I wanted to say congratulations to my friend Tim Nash on this family friendly holiday romp. Now, films with Santa's elves, talking dogs, and made for children in general really aren't my thing, but I can tell you that the kids sitting around me at the premiere loved it. Sometimes it is best to respect the opinion of the desired audience over some grinchy and jaded movie snob...

Sure, it hits the Christmas/kids film tropes a bit hard and too often, there is some real fun here. Some of the comedic performances were really well executed, "Mr. Belding" as Santa was quite good, and the CGI & many of the shots came off as truly professional.

Granted, it may not go down in annals of film history as one of the greats, but this local independent success is a crowd pleaser and a fine (though frantic) effort. For those of you with kids, this might be a pleasing treat for them on a cold winter day. Available for purchase on DVD or multiple streaming platforms. Enjoy the North Pole via Iowa this holiday season.
