2016 OSCAR ANIMATED SHORTS

February 01, 2016 by Jacob Nelson in 2015, 2014, ANIMATED, SHORTS, O, Oscars 2016

2016 Oscar Animated Shorts -

My Pick: World of Tomorrow

 Oscar Winner: Bear Story

12/6/2015 - World of Tomorrow (short) - 8+/10 - Brilliant short film. Cute enough to make you spontaneously smile with an adult sci-fi smart that provides a piercing examination of humanity and its frailties; like the best sci-fi should. A sweet and sour mix of complex concepts with uber simplistic presentation. Highly recommended gem.

2/1/2016 - Bear Story (2014) [short] - 8-/10 - Heartfelt and gorgeously animated. Story of tears and smiles in mere minutes. Loved it.

2/1/2016 - We Can't Live Without Cosmos (2014) [short] - 7+/10 - So lovely, with a terrific story. Smartly edited and put together. Leaves a lasting impression.

2/1/2016 - Sanjay's Super Team (2015) [short] - 6+/10 - Charming and energetic, with a heart of gold. Fun, but not extraordinary beyond its "real life heart". Good though.

2/1/2016 - Prologue (2015) [short] - 6/10 - Minimalistic but extremely artistic and brutally wrought. Such skill, but a bit light.

2/1/2016 - If I Was God (2015) [short] - 5-/10 - Fun and pleasant. Though a tad ambling, the use of the different mediums was impressive.

2/1/2016 - Loneliest Stoplight (2015) [short] - 4+/5-/10 - Fine film but nothing special, even with Patton Oswalt lending his voice.
