BOY AND THE WORLD (2013)

February 28, 2016 by Jacob Nelson in 2013, 5, B, ANIMATED, FAMILY, FOREIGN, Oscars 2016

2/28/2016 - Boy and the World (2013) - 5/10

I will be the outlier here. That is fine. Just as was the movie. It started as a rousing adventure full of wonder, music, life and whimsy. But as it progressed, it devolved to a rousing indictment on the horrors of the modern world. Beautifully made and inventive, but the story was non-existent and it felt more like peddling messages.

I appreciate its aims and goals, but the ends didn't justify the means to me. People, and especially kids, should watch it, but it's negatives brought it down from possible lofty heights of greatness to simply average.
