THEEB (2014)

February 24, 2016 by Jacob Nelson in 2014, 5, DRAMA, FOREIGN, THRILLER, Oscars 2016

2/24/2016 - Theeb (2014) - 5/10

It was a fine film, but I felt disillusioned by its obtuse raison d'etre and jumpy plot. It functioned fine in chunks, but lost its momentum and narrative harmony over the course of the film. The boy did an ok job, but I didn't feel any resounding appeal from his performance.

I understood the metaphors and the gist of the film, but it did not keep me as engaged as I would have wanted. Nice views and the hint of possible good stories to tell, but it did not quite attain them. Decent, but I think it could have been better.
