GREASY STRANGLER (2016)

November 12, 2016 by Jacob Nelson in 2016, 3, COMEDY, G, HORROR

11/12/2016 - Greasy Strangler (2016) - 3+/10

John Waters shadow, Todd Haynes malformed twin and Tommy Wiseau wrote a weird comic strip while Napolean Dynamite played in the background. Adult Swim writing staff interns animated it into a sewer side-show called "Bullshit Artist". Through a Hollywood back alley synthesizer ritual, that perverted cartoon was brought to semi-real life and put on celluloid. This is a bizarrity that both hits and misses wildly. It plays deeply with the uncomfortability it exhudes.

The use of near constant nudity, fake penises and merkins, and the disgusting grease soaking every meal confronts the audience with discomfort. That discomfort can be quite strangely humorous.

Unfortunately, as much as it stirs the weird and quirk, it disappoints with unitellegeble plot, ridiculous characters, grating & repetitve dialogue and a desire to just be odd & unsavory instead of boundary pushing or witty.

I enjoyed it but it was unspectacular in extremes.
