#ALIVE (2020)

October 23, 2020 by Jacob Nelson in 2020, 6, A, DRAMA, FOREIGN, HORROR

10/19/20 - #alive (2020) - 6-/10

Pretty standard zombie film with some nice touches to add a little flavor. An otaku gets stuck in his apartment during the zombie apocalypse. In actuality, it almost felt like a remake of The Night Eats the World, but with some clever touches and some less intense emotional connections. But it is extremely similar, on purpose or by coincidence of the story.

It provided some good zombie interactions and defenses. It’s always nice to find a few things you have never seen, because zombie films can get pretty formulaic. Along with the a sprinkle of freshness in the corners, the acting from our 2 survivors was pretty strong. We don’t get enough to really dive into their soul, but they did well with what they had.

It’s a solid film, but unspectacular. An enjoyable watch that was proficient in most of the ways it needed to be.
