NEKROTRONIC

NEKROTRONIC (2019)

June 17, 2020 by Jacob Nelson in 2019, 5, ACTION, COMEDY, FOREIGN, FANTASY, HORROR, SCIENCE FICTION, N

6/16/20 - Nektrotronic (2018) - 5/10

Harry Potter meets Matrix, runs into Daemonim, trips over Hellblazer, falls into Johnny Mnemonic, gets caught by Ghostbusters and driven home by Hellboy. Pretty standard “chosen one” hero with some fun weaponry, mythos, world building. This is a lark so don’t get too bogged down in seriousness, mate. Dumb geeky teen kind of excitement, but the fun mostly works because I got  onboard with the over-the-top world. The visuals and most of the special effects were well done.

The story is...lacking. But, similar to a Pacific Rim, there are layers to the world you are dropped into and it is executed pretty adeptly. It may be too juvenile/simplistic, but I had a good time and appreciated what they did well. Plus, you get to see Monica Bellucci again, being a super powerful possessed demonic goddess. There are worse things.
