AXIOM 2018

THE AXIOM (2018)

June 19, 2020 by Jacob Nelson in 2018, 3, FANTASY, HORROR

6/14/20 - The Axiom (2018) - 3/10

An intriguing premise, like a lost in the Blair Witch woods of Wonderland, but deadlier. Made me want to watch, but the obsequiousness and occlusion of its workings, top notch “dumb horror” trappings/dialogue, and its lack of execution when the rubber met the dirt road made this a journey that I would suggest skipping.

The designs of the world could have been cool, but they were not finessed to creation the way the imagination might have promised. Other than looking poor, the dialogue was clunky and utterly ridiculous (“It’s passed 9 pm and the sun is out. That is odd. Well, lets ignore it and keep going”), the interactions between these micron thin characters was cringely wanting, and the point of the entire adventure sustains no weight because it has no legs. I would have settled for dumb and derivative but cool, something it couldn’t quite muster .
