OLD (2021)

September 15, 2021 by Jacob Nelson in 2021, 3, DRAMA, O, SCIENCE FICTION, THRILLER

9/10/21 - Old (2021) - 3/10

What a load of sandy garbage! Does it generally look alright? Sure, but the script at hand, the logic it employs, and truncated drama on display are all woefully inadequate and downright poor. From each gargantuan leap in tragedy and melodrama, not a single human reacts with any sense or coherence. We tumble down the Old hill, hitting every dull-eyed cliche and trite nonsense rock along the way, until we lie gasping, battered and exhausted, ready for our last 5 min TWIST, which will not save you.

It honestly felt like this script was given a single outline pass through and then sent to the printers, as though the audience wouldn't care and will just soak up the "What's gonna happen next?!" paired with the beautiful locale. I don't think Shyamalan had anything to say and no exciting way to say it. This is hackneyed and taxing; nigh-completely unsatisfying in its vacuous drivel and unpleasant perturbances.

I won’t give away the “twist” that have become the singular reason to consume the underheated and malnourishing nonsense, but you can trust that it was...not...worth...it.
