THE NIGHT HOUSE (2020)

April 14, 2022 by Jacob Nelson in 2020, 6, HORROR, N, THRILLER

3/21/22 - The Night House (2020) - 6/10

Engrossing and rightly bewildering. A fascinating premise that definitely brings you along and into the weirdness, namely through the pointed acting and the interesting production design to build suspense & oddity. The film embraces its premise and namesake, providing an anxiety and apprehensive ambience throughout the explorations of the interiors (interiors of the house, but also of this ended relationship and of the departed’s thoughts). A malicious and imposing buildup falters as the ending though was less satisfying than I wanted.

Could Rebecca Hall get more and bigger roles please? She absolutely kills it everytime she is in anything - I just kind of want her to be in everything. Here’s to hoping.

It’s a pseudo/possibly-supernatural thriller that is worth a watch.
