ROAD HOUSE (2024) — Sleeper Awakened

Woof. That sucked. I think Gyllenhaal’s Dalton is supposed to be stoic but he just comes off as uninterested. The drama is completely uninteresting and shoved in up until we get the Bond villain reject in McGregor, who vibrates with equal parts ridiculousness and brash disdain like a coked out Muppet. At that point, the “action” intensifies but it all broke my will.

It doesn’t help that the fighting camera work and CGI are distracting and disliked by me. And when you muddle that, this film has next to nothing to propel it forward.

This film didn’t need to exist and didn’t do much to justify its questionable existence. I will give it that there are a couple scenes that give it any life, which let it rise above unwatchable…but it isn’t much higher than that low.
