NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU (2023)

February 17, 2024 by Jacob Nelson in 2023, 5, HORROR, N, SCIENCE FICTION, THRILLER

9/26/23 - No One Will Save You - 5+/10

Effectively shot and edited alien thriller. Layers of trauma and intrigue coated in the sticky righteousness of next to no dialogue, isolation and self-defining guilt. Those underlie a generally taught final girl with alien intruders.

Aliens have no answer for blind luck, gritty determination and self-(capitulating? Stifling?) regret.

I love that her own inner horrors drive her more than the alien ones outside. Explains those logic gaps by painting a picture of a woman so utterly lost inside that she runs from that & its real world consequences, not the alien threat hovering above.

I kind of like the idea of symbiotic subservience, not through simplistic utopian fantasy but via self-actualisation. It doesn’t necessarily go down that path, but we can’t be sure of the inner state of the gack ball slaves. There is serenity to be found in pod people land.

It has a “Space monkey”. :)
