THE MENU (2022)

February 02, 2023 by Jacob Nelson in 2022, 6, DRAMA, M, THRILLER

11/22/22 - The Menu (2022) - 6/10

An enjoyable class & food culture centric thriller that keeps you guessing. I think around its last couple of courses it gets a little underdone, the movie-feel is dark & refreshing.

Taylor-Joy’s screen presence is enough to hold the frame with Fiennes cheftastic intensity, complemented by the 100% in Hoult and the evolved character actor Leguizamo, it lets the whole thing cook. Their chops let the flavor of the cinematic meal broil.

There is a resignation to assigned fates and culinary journeys that don’t always jibe, but they make for an intriguing tale conceptually.
