F1 (2025)
9/14/25 - F1 (2025) - 6/10
A fairly unsophisticated and unencumbered slick piece of popcorn. It abandons much of the character drama in favor of dynamics and the thrill of the ride, which makes for an enjoyable but fairly unengaging spectacle. It's antiseptic and vacuum sealed, a polished looksmaxed model face but empty behind the eyes, a hallmark of Kosinski's filmmaking (Oblivion, Tron). This is something that with the speed and grandiosity of the vision works for a theatrical experience and a more surface/fun/coming in-and-out viewing appreciation. You pair that "great looking slick dad film" with a basic story and a charismatic but at this point limited in ambition and pushing the envelope actor in Brad Pitt (or Kosinski's other lead actors, like Cruise) and you have a vehicle for excitement but more empty calories than gratifying meal. I didn't hate it though and the look and effects of the cars/racing was good, but once the race was run the tires have come off for good.
