JANE GOT A GUN (2015)

March 16, 2016 by Jacob Nelson in 2015, 4, ACTION, DRAMA, J, WESTERN

3/16/2016 - Jane Got A Gun (2015) - 4/10

Mediocre. It's bland and lifeless effort in the nigh-defunct Western genre. Unfortunately, even though it could be a strong feminist dialogue and adventure, it wastes all the possible good elements. The story is weak, the construction was poor and the final product inert. All the emotional heft felt stunted and cliched.

I checked this out because I loved the director Gavin O'Connor's previous film (Warrior, a real gem for those of you who haven't seen it), like the cast, and want to give Westerns a shot, but it squandered all that good will. It was not a bad film, just listless, empty, and boring. Forgettable when it had potential for so much more.
