MR. RIGHT (2015)

April 19, 2016 by Jacob Nelson in 2015, 4, ACTION, COMEDY, M, ROMANCE

4/19/2016 - Mr.Right (2015) - 4+/10

Sam Rockwell, Anna Kendrick, Tim Roth, James Ransone, and RZA in an action romantic comedy about a trainwreck woman and an off-kilter assassin - excited? Well, it is almost excitement worthy...but not quite.

Actually, this was a fun-ish film, with quirky characters, a poppy script, and a kitschy comedy plot. Cute and endearing because of the blatant like ability of the people involved, but the screenplay got too into itself and the direction was completely off. Why they drummed up the most mind-numbing rom com cliches of shots, scenes, music and characters screwed up the entire tone of what good this film could have been.

There was some interesting and enjoyable clay that could have used some "Ghost Swayze" love to craft something unique and worthy. Instead, we got cookie cutter factory turning it into an over designed shitty vase at Target. Ok, maybe that metaphor imploded, but.... This was a more enjoyable than would be expected mediocre film that had the silver cloud linings of something special, but overall disappointing. There is fun watch ability there though. Not bad, just not good enough.
