"the proof and the answer"

SIRIUS (2013)

July 27, 2015 by Jacob Nelson in 2013, 4, DOCUMENTARY, S, SCIENCE FICTION

7/27/2015 - Sirius (2013) - 3-/10

This is either the most mind-expanding and important film of humankind, a sloppy mess of new-agey rhetoric & unfulfilled science, or a melange of lofty ambitions and unfulfilled potential that makes for light fun viewing ("in a tongue-in-cheek/have to be initiated already/heavy doses of salt" kind of way) but not good filmmaking. I would say the later is most accurate.
Promised as "the proof and the answer", this film delivers on neither. Having more of a "Discovery docudrama" feel, this expose into the biggest mystery/conspiracy of all-time feels toothless and poorly crafted. Are there hints of ideas and whispers of possible big truths? Possibly (this stuff is always fun and in my wheelhouse), but this film (and that is what this is supposed to be, not some compilation of blog posts, mediation seminars, or history lessons) is not very good. Enjoy if you can (may be easier said than done), but do not dare to dream.
